Wow — I came for the “how to relax” / Perfect Days inspiration, and left screenshotting so many passages to add to my notebook. Your writing really resonated with me. My words for this year are "be present", as I’ve often found myself doing things half-heartedly or on autopilot. I’ve also noticed I feel most like myself when I’m travelling: I’m fully present, and that hidden load you described just… lifts. I can dissociate from "life" completely, and I’d love to channel that energy more often in everyday life.

I loved this line: “Presence is a skill, a gift, and it can be applied to anything.” It instantly reminded me of Perfect Days’ “Now is now.” I’ve meant to rewatch it, and I think today’s the day.

Your thoughts on relaxation as a goal really hit home, too. Sometimes we know these things deep down, but we need a friend — or a stranger with the right words — to say them out loud. Thank you for this. Truly.

I'm so, so happy this resonated with you.

I have really tried to become more conscious of being present in the moment. It didn't come easily for me on some trips, since I often felt like I was the person in charge of planning (even when no one asked). But I've become more mindful now and try to center myself (sometimes with just a couple of deep breaths). It's magical what a cure this is for overthinkers and overplanners. Being present has become my motto for the year too; I hope we can both be successful.
