Introducing In Transit: Thoughts Between Here and There
A new newsletter, finally departing.
Welcome to In Transit, my newsletter/blog/space for reflections, where I'll be sharing thoughts on the big and small things in life, everyday curiosities, and whatever captures my attention along the way.
This isn’t the first time I have toyed with the idea of a blog/newsletter. I have always wanted to share my thoughts with people on the internet, and for a while, I did.
I started my first blog in 2007, when I was in class 7. In the early 2010s, I unabashedly shared my thoughts with internet strangers on Facebook and Twitter. Then I stopped. I became the ambitious procrastinator. A self-diagnosed perfectionist, I got really good at thinking about writing, rather than doing the actual work. Same applies to reading. Imagine just reading about reading. And about other people reading. And how to read more. But never actually sitting down to immerse yourself properly.
What is this newsletter going to be about?
My interests are varied: sports, history, reading, politics, writing, writers writing about writing, music, tv and movies, pop culture, trivia, and (most recently) philosophy are some of them. I suppose this will be a mix of all those things…wherever my curiosity takes me.
I started writing more regularly for myself since last October, and tested it out on my personal website. Being on a website alone was feeling a bit quiet, so I decided to switch to Substack. This is where I read many of the personal essays I enjoy reading. It makes sense to be on a platform where someone new can come across my writing, just as easily as I come across theirs.
I’ve called past blogs Seeking Perspective, but I wanted to switch this up because it is a fresh start for me, to hopefully become a regular writer, and eventually a better one too. I think ‘In Transit’ captures the essence of where I am in life best at the moment. Away from my day job at present, I am trying to immerse myself reading widely, reading philosophy, and cultivating curiosities about the big and small things of life. At my day job, I do spend a lot of time actually in transit.
If you are receiving this newsletter, you had subscribed to my website previously (I have imported the old list), or you’re a close personal friend who I want to share my writing with. I also need some accountability, and having a few subscribers helps. You are free to unsubscribe and I won’t take it personally!
I think best when I write, so consider these essays here a work in progress—just like me.

Some housekeeping:
If you can’t find the newsletter, check your Spam folder or Promotions tab, and move this email to your primary inbox.
If you had a moment, reply to this email with whatever you please (a song or film or book recommendation, what you'd like to see me write in the future, or just a hello), It would assure me that the emails won’t be getting lost in your spam.
Tell a friend? – Only if you feel like it.
Thanks for reading! More soon :)
